Finally something good enough to replace mechanical white noise!
I’m VERY sensitive to sounds in general and especially at night. I struggle with sleep and anxiety in general as well. I’ve also got some tinnitus that I’m only aware of at night when I’m trying to relax (of course)I finally found a white noise machine that can replace my mechanical one!I use this one nightly and it’s my favorite one. I’m totally sold on it.I had a trip coming up and decided to try and find a smaller one that can travel more easily. I ended up with 6 digital white noise machines from here and actually kept 3 (for different reasons, one had a light, the other battery powered etc). It’s safe to say I’m a bit neurotic when it comes to sound and my white noise machine at night.I’ve been a huge advocate for the original DOHM sound machines that are mechanical vs using a speaker with digital output. I literally travel with mine and have had multiple over the years (started out as Marpac and then Yogasleep took over I believe). I always said “There’s something about the actual mechanical sound that can’t be recreated with a speaker, it just doesn’t sound right and it’s fake!”Well… This little thing changed my mind.One of the white noise settings sounds really perfect to me and has a nice soothing deep tone that is pretty much perfect. I also found all the other sounds to be really high quality as well. The waves and rain sound real and soothing. There’s no discernible digital loop at all and the sounds are just really high fidelity in general.I have mine on my bedside table at the lowest volume and it’s perfect. I used to use my other white noise machine far away in my bathroom to not be too overbearing but this one is great nearby. It also gets really loud if that’s your thing.Another really important thing for me is the lighting, other white noise machines I got have bright LED indicators telling you they’re on and it’s distracting to me in a dark room (I literally see the light hitting the ceiling and glaring at me like it’s purposely trying to taunt me), this one does not! There’s a very dimly lit green LED that turns on at the start but it’s so dim that you can barely tell it’s on… and then it turns off! It’s really well thought out and perfect. It’s on in my 2nd photo. Not jarring at all when you turn it on in the dark.

For the Low Price This is a Good Unit
Fairly run of the mill for a non-motion-based sound machine. This device is very similar to a black cube shaped sound machine I also bought on Amazon, all the way down to the buttons and sounds available – I mean, it’s as if they put the same machine inside a different looking box. It’s the same, but this device has a somewhat better speaker. As with this new “cheap standard,” you will not be rumbled to sleep; there’s no semblance of anything physical or vibration, and there are no non-rhythmic sounds (it’s just plain wrong imo). Rhythmic background sounds keep me awake. It’s like counting sheep. This is (my theory) why my mom liked sleeping with the TV on, it’s not rhythmic; it’s random.This device works well. It’s worth mentioning the unique way it plugs in. They do NOT give you a USB plug; you have to provide your own or plug into a device that has power like a laptop. Kind of ridiculous, because as soon as this proprietary power cord, which is cheap and thin, decides to go … you’re sh$t out of luck. They should provide just a regular power cord. I have no plans to use USB. The whole idea was to get away from the computer. Peace out.

Favorite white noise machine
I have purchased six of these at this point. It is my favorite white noise machine by far. I’ve been using them for years and now have one in every room of my house. The sound is nice, it’s super simple and easy to use, and I really like the aesthetic. It just sort of blends in with the surroundings, which is perfect.

Fantastic sleep aid when with a noisy bed partner
I got a battery-powered one of these for vacations, and decided to get the plug-in version for home, instead of fumbling with ear plugs, nudges, or sleeping in a different room than my snoring, loud-breathing partner. It’s made all the difference, especially with the easy ability to adjust which white noise pattern I need, and how loud it needs to be. For me, a constant sound works best but some may find either a wave or rain sound, or even a gentle lullaby in the background works best. The changes and volume adjustments are very easy, with well-marked buttons on the top that can are easy to feel in the dark after once learn which does what.

Shrill, with a clear looping glitch audible on some of the sounds, and generally annoying (not relaxing to sleep to). Tried a few of these digital sound aids to shut up the racket my inconsiderate neighbours make and they’re all really annoying and keep me up all night!The only things that seem to work are actual fans as they ‘cut’ the air and reduce noise better. Or moving, which I can’t.
