Because I wake up in a better way, I feel more rested and ready for …
A Brighter Start to the DayI moved from Florida to Iowa in the dead of winter and needed something to help me get up on cold, dark mornings. This Phillips Wake-Up Light definitely does the trick. Because I wake up in a better way, I feel more rested and ready for a good start to the day. If you share my sleeping habits, it will work for you too.Wake-up ExperienceThose of us who are heavy sleepers understand how painful phone alarms can be. The sudden jolt interrupts your dreams and makes for a bad start to the day. With this product I wake up gradually and gently, and I actually remember my dreams! It’s also much easier to get out of bed when there is already light in the room. Trust me, if you’re the kind of person who struggles to flip the light switch in the morning, you’ll feel the difference too.AlarmIn case you don’t wake up with the light only, an alarm goes off at the end of the thirty minute “sunrise”. The sound is a standard beeping. Other reviewers have mentioned this sound bothers them, but I don’t have that problem. Because of the light, your body is already awake by the time the alarm goes off. So you’re not jolted out of a deep sleep, just prompted to open your eyes. And if you feel tempted to close them again, you can snooze the alarm for ten minutes by simply tapping the lamp’s surface.LightThe light is a high-quality yellow LED light, and you can adjust the brightness on a 1 to 10 scale to fit your light sensitivity. I would prefer if the lamp had more colors, like orange and red, so it would look more like a real sunrise. If this is very important to you, then you can buy a higher-end model of the same product at a higher price ($100-$120). But if you are a college student like me, this $70 model offers a great quality-price ratio that will get the job done without breaking your budget.DesignThe wake-up light has a sleek and elegant design that looks pretty and saves space on your nightstand. It is also safer because it does not heat up like your typical bedside lamp. I noticed some reviewers were concerned about fragility because the product is very light. Don’t worry! In my half-asleep clumsiness I have knocked it over several times, and it is still alive.Overall, this product makes for a much improved wake-up experience, and you’ll have a better day every day of the week as a result. I’m really happy with this purchase. If you’re anything like me, I’m sure you’ll love it too. The wake-up light is easy to use, affordably priced and well-designed, so there’s no reason not to give it a try!

Works for this sleepy head!
I was skeptical at first but this alarm really works! I can sleep through most alarms and phone calls but this thing is really working. It’s easy to set time and alarm in a few short moments. The lamp feature is handy as well for an adjustable glow to a nice bright reading light. The sound of the alarm is pretty basic but the real magic is in the light that brightens over about 15 minutes of the set time for the alarm to go off. Set near your head, facing where you will be facing the alarm clock when waking; thats all it takes. This alarm seems to bring you to wakefulness naturally without jolting you awake or being too quiet. To snooze the alarm is a light tap on the top of the alarm itself. Snooze gives you a pre-set 9 minutes but you probably won’t use it cause it seems to be able to give you a decent wake up and more ready to get up than other alarms I have used. The shape of this clock is about 10 inches in diameter. It’s lighter weight than I expected but it’s not an issue because it works quite nicely. The time display is also easy to adjust the brightness. The shape of this alarm makes it almost require a flat smooth surface, so it doesn’t roll or get wobbly. It similar to a photo frame with an easel type leg at the rear of the alarm.Overall it’s been a pleasant surprise as to how well it has been working after 2 weeks of use. Now no matter the weather, this alarm is waking me up to what seems like a sunrise! My only issue is that it’s so lightweight. That might be a huge bonus if you want to use it as a travel alarm though!

really like this alarm clock
I really, really, really like this alarm clock. It was exactly what I was looking for; except, now that I’ve had it for a few months, I wish there was a way to turn off the audible alarm and just use the wake-up light. (If there is a way, I’d be super grateful to anyone who can tell me how to set this up!)I’m a heavy sleeper and not really much of a morning person, especially with these dark, New York winters. So, getting up in the morning has always been difficult for me. For the past few years, I was using a similar “natural light” lamp connected to a switch with a timer on it, to help me wake up; however, with that contraption, I would still be startled awake, when the light turned on in the morning. With this “Wake-up light” alarm, I have the light ultimately set to the highest setting (10);however, about 30 minutes or so before the set wake up time, the light begins to illuminate, at a very low setting. It gradually increases until it reaches full illumination! It’s fantastic! Plus, it has a beautiful, warm glow to it that seems really natural. That said, the audible alarm on this thing is the typical, loud, annoying alarm, which is meant to keep you from over-sleeping; so, it works as intended, but it is the one annoying thing about this alarm that is keeping me from giving it a full five stars.I use my Android phone’s “Smart alarm”, which has a feature that uses a “gentle alarm” that starts off three minutes before the main alarm does, slowly increasing in volume, until it reaches the set, full volume. If this product developed a similar “smart audible alarm” or gave the user the ability to only use the wake-up light (and totally disable the audible alarm) it would be perfect, in my book. That said, it’s still a pretty nifty little gadget and I sometimes leave the light on during the day, if it’s gloomy outside, just because… LOL

It’s the simplest and cheapest of these light options that I found and it works great. Pretty much a must if you live in a northern city or are always having to wake up before sunrise! The nice easy slow wake up of the brightening light is much better than being jarred awake by your normal alarm! I tried out a mid-range version that friend had but I found the limited extra features weren’t worth the extra cost. This model gives you the option to set the light brightness (1-10), dim the clock (but not turn it off completely), and set the volume of the alarm (1-10) which is a simple beeping style alarm sound. On these lights I prefer the actual buttons over the “touch sensitive” buttons of the mid-range versions and the simple beeping sound, though not as cool as the 4 “natural” sounds of some of the other versions…. is fine especially since by the time the alarm sound goes off you are pretty much awake anyway. The alarm sound just helps ensure you actually get up out of bed at that time.

I bought this for a friend in India. I actually got the right one for me in Europe and when I saw the same product on amazon, I ordered it. But the product is totally different as I saw in the picture. Disappointed with this order.

Waking up during the winter months was a serious struggle! So dark in the mornings trying to wake up for work and hitting the snooze button repeatedly because it didn’t feel like morning yet! I decided to look into these wakeup lights to try and help and ordered this model as it was a good deal and I didn’t want to shell out a bunch of cash on a bunch of extra features for something I wasn’t even sure would work for me. I really like the look and design of this clock. Its very sleek and modern looking! I really like that you can dim the clock face numbers quite a bit. I am a super light sleeper and any little light tends to bother me, but the lowest setting on this was actually not bad! You can also adjust the brightness of the surrounding ring light. I really enjoyed using it as a table lamp because of this. Super bright or just enough light to see around the room was very convenient. Setting the alarm is easy and there’s only one alarm tone so not much to play with in that regard. The light starts to gradually illuminate approx. 30 mins before your set wake up time so that it gently eases you awake. I often would wake up, because I am a light sleeper, before the actual alarm! In the summer when the sun rises earlier I found I didn’t use it as much as the contrast wasn’t as strong as when it’s dark out still. Only other downside was that it’s plugged into the wall with no backup battery so if the power goes out…. you will wake up..late haha… to a blinking screen. Overall I enjoy using this clock as a bedside light everynight and as an alarm clock in the darker/winter months! And always have my iphone alarm set as a backup!
