UPDATE: My husband has used it the last few days and his mood has noticeably improved. He said he wished that it could be used without being plugged in like some expensive models can but no more winter blahs…He is back to being smiley and energetic. Thus, I am upgrading my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars.****This lamp comes with a charging cord which is stored in a separate little box at the bottom of the larger box. At first I thought they forgot to send me the charging cord but they did not. Open both ends of the box if you don’t see the cord right away. You do need your own 5V/3A power adapter. (The directions inside say 5V/ >=2A.)I’ve bought a few light lamps in this price range. Like the others, this is made in China and I don’t expect it to last forever. (Never drop your lamp if you can help it! Treat it with care like a cell phone and store it in its original box.) There is a warranty card to fill out though I don’t know what protection it provides, if any. No promises are made on the card.The nice features of this lamp are the adjustable brightness and timer features. (Though I’m not sure why the Amazon ad suggests possibly using the light before bed, which is never recommended as far as I know! Unless you are taking an early morning nap maybe?)I agree the lamp is small enough to be portable, which is another nice feature if you want to bring it to work or travel with it. However, this is the norm for lights in this price category. More expensive models can often not only travel but be used without a plug once charged.If you’ve used a light therapy lamp before and respond well to white light, this lamp will probably work well for you. However, if you prefer blue or even yellow light, this lamp only offers white light. (I’ve had other lights which feature mild blue and/or mild yellow lights in addition to white light, including one made by this same company. However, this Fitfirst 10000 Lux Sunlight Lamp has more options in terms of white light intensity since it only features white light.)For me, I appreciate that this white light has a low setting of 4000 Lux in addition to higher settings because brighter light tends to give me anxiety and/or headaches. It’s pretty dark, cloudy and cold right now where I live and this light did give me the boost I needed this morning without being too bright. (Though I am pretty sure that even 4000 Lux would likely be too bright on a day where I was prone to headaches.)Another nice feature? I was able to plug in the light and use it straight out of the box.In short: For the current sale price of $31.99, I think this lamp is well worth it for those who respond well to white light therapy (the type most recommended for SAD). If the lamp returns to its regular price of almost $50, I might shop around and make sure this is the light with the features you want. (It might be!) More expensive lamps ($100 plus) will probably be more durable and/or made in the USA but for this price point, I’m pleased with how the lamp is working thus far.I’d say this is a 3 star lamp compared to pricier lamps. (You get what you pay for.) But for those of us on a budget, this lamp does what it’s meant to do (for me, at least…and for now). If you have bipolar, consult with your doctor before using this or any light therapy lamp.The lamp says it does not use UV light. I can only assume this to be true since white light is usually UV-free…

I’ve been doing light therapy for a while and needed to replace my old lamp (wore it out). This lamp has been an awesome upgrade!The material of the lamp is very sturdy. It’s a thick plastic and has nice tactile buttons for low vision. The timer setting works really well, also helps me if I get hyperfocused on my phone in the mornings. The screen is the size of a book and made of thick material as well, so no worries if dropped.My only complaint is that the leg support doesn’t lock into place, but that’s not really an issue for me. Overall, very easy to set up and use!

This sunlight lamp is compact and travel-friendly—slightly larger than a tablet—so it’s easy to slip into a bag or purse.The lamp feels reasonably sturdy: not something I’d toss around, but solid enough that it doesn’t feel flimsy or likely to fall apart. The controls are intuitive once plugged in, though I wish the instructions included guidance on usage (how long and when to use it), not just basic operation. That being said, the extra light definitely helps improve my mood and I feel more energetic in the sense that I’m not as likely to just sit!One small packaging note: the included cord is hidden in a separate compartment at the very bottom of the box and is easy to miss.
