Works well, more accurate than my more recognisable name brand monitors.
I have had this HR monitor for 4 months. So far it has been flawless. I tested its accuracy against my blood pressure cuff and it was +/- 1 beat. It was easy to pair with my head unit and is as comfortable as chest strap HR monitor can be during a long, hot and sweaty ride. I have yet to have a HR monitor last more than 18 months, so we’ll see how this fares in the future, but for now I have no complaints only good things to say about it.

Great value!
I have compared this simultaneously with an optical armband and Garmin watch, and the PowerLabs is quicker to repond to changes in heart rate during exercise and can read higher peaks during brief, hard efforts. For instance, if I go from resting to very vigorous exercise like pullpus, and back to resting- the chest strap reading raises faster and will peak higher, then start coming down faster than the optical sensors. And the optical sensors never register the true peak, because my heart rate is already falling again before they’ve caught up with it. However, on steady efforts like jogging or resting, they all tend to agree pretty closely with each other.I was concerned that the chest strap felt uncomfortable the first time I put it on, but I very quickly got used to it and now I don’t mind it at all. I run the contact area under water and/or dampen my chest where it sits to ensure a good contact and have had no problems with a reading. I’ve also run in the rain with it with no problems, so the monitor unit seems properly waterproof. It syncs right up to my watch and phone apps. The MapmyRun app was a little reluctant to connect, but it eventually did- perhaps because I gave up on it, connected another app, then went back to MapmyRun and it connected immediately.Another cool thing is my Garmin watch will automatically detect lactate threshold with this chest strap. which it cannot do with its own optical sensor or the optical arm band, and it detected my threshold within one beat of my result from the Joe Friel 30 minute test.Anyway- it’s working well so far at a fraction of the cost of a Garmin strap. I’ll update the review if anything changes.UPDATEAfter about 6 months, the battery died, but I emailed Powrlab and provided my amazon order number and they sent 2 good quality replacement batteries.I also had problems with cadence lock in cool weather when I’m sweating less, but I bought some electrode gel and that works great, so still happy with my purchase.Have fun!

Good performance at a good price
I bought this to use with a Concept2 rower and it worked great. The C2 detected it right away and paired right up. I hadn’t used a chest strap monitor since I used a Polar where the strap actually detects the heart beat. With this device, its only job is to hold it in place.

Accurate, fairly priced, comfortable, good battery life
I purchased this Powr chest heart rate monitor because I was having a lot of variance measuring my heart rate on my Garmin Fenix 7 while running and sometimes while biking. It was very frustrating to watch my heart rate spike when I know it wasn’t spiking. This has been super accurate when compared to multiple other sources. It’s comfortable to wear, and as far as I can tell, has incredibly battery life. It connects via ANT+ and I’ve never had even a moment of issues of connectivity for my Garmin watch, my Garmin Edge bike computer, or connecting it to any gym equipment that supports connecting it to Bluetooth external heart rate monitors. It’s very convenient to not have to hold the handles while running on a treadmill and see your live heart rate data just as accurately. Highly recommend.

Works great with Peloton
The original Peloton monitors stopped holding a charge. 1 within 6 months and the other 2 yrs later. This was recommended and it works great, it easily connects to all of my equipment nd stays connected during floor exercise. It’s been months and the charge is still at 100.

Be sure to dampen the strap!
Update: After my 1-star unhappy review the company reached out to me and offered a refund AND shipped a brand new unit to try again. I have upgraded this to 4 stars. Even though he has a HR watch my husband needs this to display his heart rate on his phone mounted to his handlebars while he bikes, as he needs to keep it below a certain threshold. The initial try with the new one was disappointing at first. The battery on this unit was also weak so I replaced it. Dampened the strap as recommended and still nothing. Hmmmm…maybe it’s me? The included directions are very vague, and the illustration of where to wear the strap conflicts with the website directions (also vague). I looked through a few video reviews and finally found an unboxing one that showed exactly WHERE to dampen the strap. Hint, it’s not around the 2 circle spots behind the snaps for the unit, which seemed intuitive to me, it’s the elongated, barely visible strips nearer to under the breast on each side of the unit. This time the app found it right away and I was paired and good to go! Did a test stationary bike ride and the HR was dead on with the bike, also matched up perfectly to the HR on my watch. After this initial test I took it off and noticed that it disconnected from the app, as expected. A couple of hours later I put it on and it reconnected as it should. So I am upgrading to 4 stars. It works well, but the directions are terrible and the battery was dead. But the customer service is fantastic! Here is my original unfavorable review:Battery and device both DOAPurchased after good reviews on Amazon and in several running magazines. Could not get it to pair to my phone.Read the included directions and went to the website for recommended apps. Installed Map My Fitness. The app located my husband’s and my Garmin watches immediately but not the HRM. After several tries I tested the battery which was very weak so I replaced with one that tested strong. Still wouldn’t even light up to indicate pairing mode. Followed suggestions about wetting the strap where it contacts the skin. Still nothing. After wasting an hour I decided to give up and return it. Major disappointment.

I used a polar HR10 for years but was having to replace the strap every 3 months so it just got silly cost wise. The powrlabs chest strap connects faster, responds during exercise more quickly, it’s readings correlate well to my RPE and given that my resting heart rate matched that of a recent test at a medical center I believe to be accurate. Fantastic value.
